Cell banking and Cloning
To start we need cells.
Cells can be obtained form a skin or muscle biopsy from a living or recently deceased animal. It is important that tissue is not frozen but kept cool and clean. Cells can be grown from an animal up to a 10 + days after its demise.
For living animals, a skin biopsy is the best way to insure live cells can be grown. We also able to extract and grow cells from some fluids including urine. This generally however requires more attempts.
For deceased animals, keep the body cool, preferably wrapped in a wet towel and refrigerated.
